HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The Rams varsity football team of Mt. Vernon
3 Township High School, under the leadership of head coach Dan
4 Mings, ended the 2005 regular season with a 9-0 record, the
5 first undefeated regular season for Rams football since 1985;
6 and
 
7     WHEREAS, The Rams' 25-21 victory in their final game of the
8 regular season against the Newton Eagles was a thrilling
9 spectacle that demonstrated the Rams' impressive ability to
10 come back from an 11-point deficit to defeat their opponents;
11 and
 
12     WHEREAS, The hard work and dedication of the entire team
13 and of their coaches has earned the team an opportunity to
14 compete in the Class 6A Illinois High School Association
15 playoffs where they continued their outstanding performance in
16 the first round, defeating opponents Champaign Central High
17 School; and
 
18     WHEREAS, All participants in the team's success deserve to
19 be recognized for their efforts, including: Head Coach Dan
20 Mings, Coach Drew Millwood, Coach Jeff Lonnon, Coach Glenn
21 Fernetti, Coach Mark Goodheart, Coach Sean Docherty, Coach Paul
22 Fields, and Coach Ron Bradford; Rams teammates Derek Alvis,
23 Matt Williamson, Mitch Simmons, Nick Bradford, Jordan
24 Haarmann, Joel Rush, Josh Thouvenin, Brysen Smith, Mark
25 Moffitt, John Beever, Paul Hart, Ryan Martin, Adam Miller, Jake
26 Sledge, Jared Herrmann, Frankie Moll, Aaron Haarmann, Jake
27 Lewis, Matt Hester, E.J. Badger, Kirk Tate, Robbie Kirk,
28 Sterling Williams, Terrell Cooks, Jordan Oliver, John
29 Anderson, Glendale Moore, Jake Johnson, Colin Overstreet,
30 Jordan Clinton, Jesse Arcuri, Cassmen Hughes, Brian Deaton,
31 Trent Hover, Jeremiah McGovern, and Eric Stuckey; and the
32 team's managers Jeremy Easley and Emily Estes; therefore, be it

1     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
2 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
3 we congratulate the Mt. Vernon Rams varsity football team on
4 their outstanding record as an undefeated team in the regular
5 season and join with Mt. Vernon Township High School, the
6 community of Mt. Vernon, and all Rams fans to extend to the
7 team and its coaching staff our best wishes as they enter the
8 IHSA playoffs; and be it further
 
9     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10 presented to Dan Mings, Head Coach of the Mt. Vernon Rams
11 varsity football team.
