HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, On June 16, 1775, Horatio Gates was appointed as
3 the first Adjutant General (AG); as a result, the AG Corps
4 became the second oldest branch of the U.S. Army; Mr. Gates
5 served as key advisor and principal assistant to General
6 Washington; and
 
7     WHEREAS, Since World War II, the Adjutant General's Corps
8 has been combat tested on several far-flung battlefields such
9 as Korea, Vietnam, Grenada, Panama, the Persian Gulf War
10 (Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm), and, most
11 recently, in the Global War on Terrorism; and
 
12     WHEREAS, While serving in support of Operation Enduring
13 Freedom in Fort Benning, Georgia, Kuwait, and Iraq, the
14 soldiers from the 347th AG Replacement Battalion, the 735th and
15 825th Replacement Companies, and the 993rd AG Company Postal
16 have completed this task in an expedient and professional
17 manner; and
 
18     WHEREAS, The following soldiers were assigned to the 993rd
19 AG Company Postal and spent 13 months in Iraq working postal
20 operations: 1SG Donald W. Simpson, 1LT Gerald Thornhill, SGT
21 Dawn A. Wilkerson, CPT Lloyd L. Williams, SPC Mary M. Alberico,
22 SSG William B. Ashmore, SSG Mark B. Campbell, SGT Jeremy D.
23 Childers, SGT David W. Doerner, SGT Johnathon E. Dryden, SGT
24 Carrie N. Goldstein, SPC James L. Johnson, SSG Kevin D. Kline,
25 SPC John J. Kranawetter, SPC Amanda L. Lempera, SFC Russell L.
26 Nicks, SSG Brandt P. Patterson, SGT Brandon P. Poracky, SFC
27 Clay E. Swanner, and SPC Dale F. Shaw; and
 
28     WHEREAS, The following soldiers were assigned to the 847th
29 Personnel Service Battalion in Kuwait for one year processing
30 replacements and controlling soldiers going during their Rest
31 and Relaxation Leave: SFC Roy W. Tolbert, SFC Larry W. Morgan,

12 Todd M. Werdebaugh, CPL Stephen N. Harris, SPC Matthew
13 Williams, CPT James Hess, 1SG James Alexander, SFC Mitchell
14 Graves, SFC Dale Reamy, SFC Douglas Fisher, SFC Bradley Smith,
15 SSG Stephen King, SSG Benjamin Tobin, SGT Trevor Wilkerson, SPC
16 Nathaniel Anderson, SPC Justin Etheridge, SPC Brett Madeker,
17 SPC Oscar Rodgers, SPC Angelina Ruffino, and SSG Thomas Evans;

19     WHEREAS, The following soldiers assigned to the 825th
20 Replacement Company were deployed to Ft. Benning, Georgia,
21 working at the Conus Replacement Center processing replacement
22 soldiers to the theater of operation from February of 2003 to
23 January of 2004: SSG Amy Nicole Diesen, SSG Trevor Chitwood,
24 SSG Rickey Hill, SSG Benton T. Willis, MAJ Edgardo R. Pimentel,
25 and SSG Timothy D. Schenk; and
 
26     WHEREAS, The following soldiers were in Bosnia serving in
27 the peace keeping mission for a period of one year: SGT Justin
28 W. Hodges and SSG Jeffrey W. McIntosh; and
 
29     WHEREAS, The following soldiers were assigned to various
30 units and were deployed overseas in support of Operation
31 Enduring/Iraqi Freedom: SPC Jonathon A. Sexton, SGT
32 Christopher N. Jones, SPC Gabriel S. Morris, SPC Jeremy S.

8 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
9 we congratulate these brave and courageous individuals as they
10 are honored at the "Welcome Home Warrior-Citizen Award
11 Ceremony" on January 7, 2006, in Mt. Vernon, and we thank them
12 for their devotion to our country and willingness to bravely
13 serve and defend the freedom of people everywhere; and be it
14 further
 
15     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16 presented to each of the brave soldiers listed above and to the
17 347th Replacement Battalion as a sign of our deepest gratitude
18 for a job well done.
