HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The Assured Funding for Veterans Health Care Act
3 of 2005 was introduced in the United States Senate as S.331 on
4 February 9, 2005, and in the United States House of
5 Representatives as H.R.515 on February 2, 2005; and
 
6     WHEREAS, S.331 and H.R.515 require the Secretary of the
7 Treasury to make available to the Secretary of Veterans Affairs
8 assured amounts of moneys for the use of the Veterans Health
9 Administration; and
 
10     WHEREAS, In June of 2005, the Secretary of Veterans Affairs
11 acknowledged that the VA had at least a $1 billion shortfall in
12 veterans' health care; and
 
13     WHEREAS, Funding for veterans' health care is important to
14 provide those who have served their country in the armed forces
15 with proper health care, especially in a time of armed
16 conflict; the passage of S.331 or H.R.515 will show those who
17 are in the military and those who are considering serving that
18 the federal government will provide necessary benefits; and
 
19     WHEREAS, The Department of Veterans Affairs must be ready
20 to meet the needs of our newest veterans and continue to care
21 for veterans who have served our nation in the past; therefore,
22 be it
 
23     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
24 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
25 we urge Congress to pass the Assured Funding for Veterans
26 Health Care Act of 2005 to ensure that our troops are able to
27 obtain adequate health care; and be it further
 
28     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
29 presented to the President pro tempore of the U.S. Senate, the

2 of the Illinois Congressional delegation.
