HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the
3 State of Illinois are pleased to recognize Sandie Oswald on the
4 occasion of her retirement; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Mrs. Oswald was born on January 29, 1940, in
6 Louisville, Illinois, to Steve and Maggie (Shelton) Jennings;
7 she graduated from Clay City Grade School in 1984 and Salem
8 High School in 1958; and
 
9     WHEREAS, She moved to northern Indiana and eventually to
10 Cook County, Illinois; she worked for Illinois Bell Telephone
11 Company in Harvey; and
 
12     WHEREAS, Mrs. Oswald married Verlyn "Ozzie" Oswald in Blue
13 Island on January 28, 1961; she went on to attend and graduate
14 from Blue Island College of Cosmetology, where she taught for
15 five years; and
 
16     WHEREAS, The Oswalds lived in Blue Island until moving to
17 Iuka in 1972; she first worked at the Marion County Jail as a
18 secretary and female correctional officer; she started in the
19 Marion County Clerk's Office in 1992, where she worked
20 part-time and went to full-time in January of 1993, working on
21 vital records and elections; and
 
22     WHEREAS, Mrs. Oswald served 16 years on the Executive
23 Committee of the Marion County Democratic Central Committee, 14
24 years as chairwoman/vice chairman and two years secretary; she
25 is a past president and secretary of the Salem Democrat Club
26 and a past president of the Iuka Community Development Corp.;
27 she served as coordinator of the Iuka Homecoming Parade, is a
28 past president of the Iuka Grade School PTO, and was a Beta
29 Club sponsor; and

1     WHEREAS, She joins her husband, who retired from the Marion
2 County Sheriff's Dept. three years ago; she is the proud mother
3 of Chuck (wife, Maria), Steve (wife, Connie), and Amy Jo
4 (husband, Scott Pahlmann) and the proud grandmother of Corrine,
5 Cassandra, Thomas, Lucas, Amber (husband, Matt Winkler),
6 Stephen, Kyra, Kalan, Eli, and Cooper; she is the
7 great-grandmother of Matthew; and
 
8     WHEREAS, In retirement, she and her husband plan to spoil
9 their grandchildren, spend time with family and friends, and
10 travel; therefore, be it
 
11     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
12 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
13 we congratulate Sandie Oswald on the occasion of her
14 retirement, and we thank her for the many years she has
15 dedicated to public service; and be it further
 
16     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17 presented to her as an expression of our esteem.
