SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
20 ILCS 105/8.08 new

    Amends the Illinois Act on the Aging. Creates the Extended Community Care Options pilot program to be provided by Catholic Charities within Lake County. Provides that the program will enter into contracts with local vendors to provide services to prevent unnecessary institutionalization of the elderly. Provides that the Department on Aging shall evaluate the program and prepare a report for the General Assembly. Contains other provisions. Effective immediately.

1     AN ACT concerning State government.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Illinois Act on the Aging is amended by
5 adding Section 8.08 as follows:
 
6     (20 ILCS 105/8.08 new)
7     Sec. 8.08. Extended Community Care Options Program;
8 creation. The Extended Community Care Options pilot program is
9 hereby created. This program is to be provided by Catholic
10 Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago within Lake County. The
11 Extended Community Care Options pilot program will contract
12 with local vendors to provide an array of services designed to
13 prevent unnecessary institutionalization of elderly persons.
14 The program will provide a wider variety of services than those
15 provided by the Department.
16     The Department shall evaluate the program for the following
17 initiatives including, but not limited to, function,
18 cost-efficiency, quality, and service variation. The
19 Department shall report to the General Assembly on its findings
20 by January 1, 2007. If the report demonstrates that the
21 Extended Community Care Options Program is cost-effective and
22 is a model for other areas of Illinois, the Department shall
23 develop a plan to expand the program to other areas of the
24 State. Expansion to other areas shall begin by July 1, 2007.
 
25     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
26 becoming law.
