SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, Mary Ellen McGrane Barry passed away on February
3 26, 2005; and
 
4     WHEREAS, Mrs. Barry was born on August 12, 1932, to Hugh
5 and Winifred King McGrane in Far Rockaway, New York; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Hugh McGrane was born on January 18, 1901, to
7 Patrick and Mary Rodgers McGrane in Mullatee, Carlingford,
8 County Louth Ireland and immigrated to the United States in
9 1921; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Winifred King McGrane was born on October 14,
11 1899, to George and Ellen King in Loughborough, Leicester
12 England and immigrated to the United States in 1903; and
 
13     WHEREAS, Hugh McGrane was a New York City policeman and he
14 and his wife had six children and twenty grandchildren - Hugh
15 (Rose), a Marine Corp. veteran and New York City policeman and
16 his children, Hugh, John, Joanne, Maureen, Colleen, Marianne,
17 Joseph, and Tom - George (Joan), a Marine Corp. veteran of the
18 Korean War, teacher, coach, and far eastern scholar and his
19 children, Kim and Kevin - John (Marian), a Marine Corp. veteran
20 and attorney in New York and his children, John, Timothy,
21 Matthew, Peter, Deirdre, and Shelia - Winifred and her
22 children, Erin, Bridget, and Patrick and James McGrane; and
 
23     WHEREAS, Mary Ellen McGrane Barry graduated from St. Mary
24 Star of the Sea in 1946 and Stella Maris High School in 1950;
25 and
 
26     WHEREAS, She married Robert Barry on May 4, 1960; Robert
27 was born on July 21, 1931, to Michael and Grace Varley Barry;
28 and

1     WHEREAS, Robert and Mary Ellen McGrane Barry had one son,
2 Robert, born on January 28, 1961; and
 
3     WHEREAS, Mary Ellen McGrane Barry and her husband lived in
4 Ottawa for over 20 years, owning and operating Bel-Mill and
5 Marseilles Liquor and Variety; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Upon the death of her husband on November 28,
7 1987, Mary Ellen McGrane Barry moved to Arlington Heights and
8 worked for sixteen years for the Clerk of the Circuit Court
9 (Clerk's Office); and
 
10     WHEREAS, Mary Ellen McGrane Barry was a honest, hard
11 working, and well-respected employee of the Clerk's office; and
 
12     WHEREAS, Mary Ellen McGrane was a devoted mother and loving
13 grandmother; therefore, be it
 
14     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
15 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we offer our
16 condolences to the family of Mary Ellen McGrane Barry,
17 especially her grandchildren, Allison and Andrew Barry; and be
18 it further
 
19     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20 presented to her family as an expression of our deepest
21 sympathy.
