SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with regret of the death of James C. "J.C." Kirk of
4 Herrin on Monday, June 6, 2005; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was born on December 31, 1926, in Herrin, to
6 Paul and Lena (Bofetta) Kirk; he valiantly served his country
7 as a member of the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the USS
8 Las Vegas Victory from 1944 to 1946; he was a member of the
9 American Legion Post 645 of Herrin, the Baker-Ladd VFW Post
10 1567 of Herrin, and the Teamsters Union; and
 
11     WHEREAS, Mr. Kirk was a tax preparer and also worked for
12 the City of Herrin as water superintendent, director of the
13 Herrin Ambulance Service, and water quality control manager
14 from 1981 until his retirement; he remained actively involved
15 in community service after his retirement; prior to his
16 employment with the City of Herrin, he worked for Mitchell
17 Construction in Herrin; and
 
18     WHEREAS, His passing has been deeply felt by many,
19 especially his wife of 58 years, Zella Jeneece Kirk; his
20 daughter, Jeneece Bishop, and her children, Daniel L. Bishop
21 and Julie C. Bishop-Johanson, and her children, Ashleigh,
22 Breanna, and Jacob Johanson; his son, Jim C. Kirk, and his
23 wife, Sue, and his children, T. Nicole and Jordan C. Kirk; his
24 daughter, Tammy S. Kirk; his sister, Pauline Mory, and her
25 husband, Al, and children, Paul William Kirk and Judy Mullikin;
26 his sister-in-law, June Kirk, and her children, Donna Draper
27 and Billie Spooner; his niece, Karen Cain; and his special
28 friends, Gregg Ethridge, John Berra, Chanh Nguyen, and his
29 beloved pet, Oreo; he was preceded in death by his parents, his
30 sister, Geraldine Calcaterra, and his brother, William Kirk;
31 therefore, be it

1     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
2 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
3 James C. "J.C." Kirk, and we extend our sincere condolences to
4 his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
5 further
 
6     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7 presented to his family as an expression of our deepest
8 sympathy.
