SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with regret of the death of John S. Baker of Marion on
4 Monday, July 4, 2005; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was born on April 20, 1914, to George and Lucy
6 Jane (Blades) Baker in Marion; he married Mary Virginia Collins
7 on October 9, 1933, in Murphysboro, and together they shared
8 almost 69 years of marriage until her death on June 26, 2002;
9 and
 
10     WHEREAS, Mr. Baker retired from CIPS as a truck driver and
11 digger operator; he was a member of Warder Street Baptist
12 Church in Marion and IBEW Local 702; and
 
13     WHEREAS, The passing of John S. Baker has been deeply felt
14 by many, especially his sons, John Thomas Baker, Charles Dale
15 Baker, Sr. and wife, Phyllis Ann, Frankie Dean Baker and wife,
16 June, and Harold Dee Baker and wife, Terry; his 17
17 grandchildren; his 32 great-grandchildren; his 6
18 great-great-grandchildren; his sister, Betty Jane Dodd; and
19 his many nieces and nephews; he was preceded in death by his
20 parents; his wife, Mary; his daughter, Marilyn Jane Kucheska;
21 his granddaughter, Karen Lynn Baker; his daughter-in-law,
22 Doris Baker; his brothers, Jimmy Baker, Charles "Bake" Baker,
23 and George Baker; and his sisters, Rachel McMahn, Hattie Ewing,
24 and Dorothy Sauri; therefore, be it
 
25     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
26 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
27 John S. Baker, and we extend our sincere condolences to his
28 family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
29 further
 
30     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
