SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with regret of the death of Beverly Jean Nicholson on
4 Tuesday, May 2, 2006; and
 
5     WHEREAS, She was born on December 12, 1947, in Chicago to
6 Willie and Lucille Hill; she attended Chicago Public Schools,
7 graduating from Farragut High School; she married Henry
8 Nicholson on August 21, 1972; he preceded her in death; and
 
9     WHEREAS, She was employed with the Chicago Public Schools
10 as a teacher's aide at Turner Drew Language Academy; she
11 furthered her education by obtaining her PhD and became a
12 Master Herbalist; she realized her lifelong dream by opening
13 the Herbal Connection Holistic Health Spa in the Bronzeville
14 area; she was currently a Senior Divisional Manager for
15 Nature's Sunshine Products and was well known and respected in
16 the holistic medicine industry; and
 
17     WHEREAS, Known affectionately as "Doc", Ms. Nicholson was a
18 major link in many relationships as a loving wife of 22 years,
19 a mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, cousin, neighbor,
20 employer, and friend; her unselfish love, compassion, humorous
21 anecdotes, and genuine care for family and friends made her
22 special; and
 
23     WHEREAS, The passing of Beverly Jean Nicholson has been
24 deeply felt by many, especially the love of her life, Beverly
25 Denedi, also known as lil Beverly; her children, Nikki
26 Nicholson, Dominick Nicholson, Eletha Evans, Tonia Flowers,
27 Lawanda (Gregory) Brown, and Lavance (Yolanda) Nicholson; her
28 special beloved godson, Lawrence Ingram; her grandchildren,
29 Sean, Arthelia, Sheronda, Christian, Isaiah, LeRon, and Leotis
30 (Bevy); her brother, Willie Hill Jr.; her sisters, Rokatrice
31 Redmond and Shirley Young; her aunts, Beatrice Patterson and

1 Izetta Braden; her special niece, Tammy (Carlton) Ballard; her
2 other godchildren, Sharon, Kenya, Jessica, Breanna, and Ramon
3 (Ronnie); her special friends, Edna Sanders, Marsha Brown,
4 Lanice Sanders, Carolyn Butler, and Patty Futtkell; Medina
5 Nance and Dr. Arlene Taylor; and her many other relatives and
6 close friends; in addition to her husband, Henry, she was
7 preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Wayne Hill;
8 therefore, be it
 
9     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
10 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11 Beverly Jean Nicholson, and we extend our sincere condolences
12 to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be
13 it further
 
14     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15 presented to her family as an expression of our deepest
16 sympathy.
