SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
605 ILCS 5/4-105 new

    Amends the Illinois Highway Code. Provides that the Department of Transportation shall select a capital improvement project related to pedestrian or vehicular facilities as a pilot project in which rubberized asphalt shall be used in place of conventional asphalt. Sets requirements for the project. Provides that the Department shall select the project within 6 months, and the project must be completed within 12 months.

1     AN ACT concerning transportation.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Illinois Highway Code is amended by adding
5 Section 4-105 as follows:
 
6     (605 ILCS 5/4-105 new)
7     Sec. 4-105. Rubberized asphalt study. The Department shall
8 select a capital improvement project related to roads, parking
9 lots, sidewalks, biking or walking paths, or other pedestrian
10 or vehicular facilities, as a pilot project in which rubberized
11 asphalt shall be used in place of conventional asphalt. The
12 project shall feature at least 2,000 square feet of rubberized
13 asphalt and a similarly sized patch of conventional asphalt, to
14 enable comparisons. The Department shall select the project
15 within 6 months of the effective date of this amendatory Act of
16 the 95th General Assembly, and the project must be completed
17 within 12 months of the effective date of this amendatory Act
18 of the 95th General Assembly.
