1     AN ACT concerning regulation.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Hearing Instrument Consumer Protection Act
5 is amended by changing Section 1 as follows:
 
6     (225 ILCS 50/1)  (from Ch. 111, par. 7401)
7     (Section scheduled to be repealed on January 1, 2016)
8     Sec. 1. Purpose. The The purpose of this Act is to protect
9 the hearing-impaired public from incompetent and dishonest
10 dispensers of hearing instruments who could endanger the
11 health, safety and welfare of the People of this State. The
12 Federal Food and Drug Administration has recommended that State
13 legislation is necessary in order to establish standards of
14 competency and to impose stringent penalties for those who
15 violate the public trust in this field of health care.
