SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
20 ILCS 689/35 new

    Amends the Illinois Renewable Fuels Development Program Act. Sets forth goals for the use of denatured ethanol as a blending agent to produce gasohol and majority blended ethanol as follows: a minimum of 15% of all taxable gasoline sold in Illinois beginning January 1, 2012 and a minimum of 20% beginning January 1, 2017. Effective immediately.

1     AN ACT concerning renewable fuels.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Illinois Renewable Fuels Development
5 Program Act is amended by adding Section 35 as follows:
 
6     (20 ILCS 689/35 new)
7     Sec. 35. Renewable Fuels Goals.
8     (a) Beginning January 1, 2012, it is the goal of the State
9 of Illinois that denatured ethanol used as a blending agent to
10 produce gasohol or majority blended ethanol in Illinois for the
11 current fiscal year shall equate to a minimum of 15% of all
12 taxable gasoline sold in Illinois during the previous fiscal
13 year.
14     (b) Beginning January 1, 2017, it shall be the goal of the
15 State of Illinois that denatured ethanol used as a blending
16 agent to produce gasohol or majority blended ethanol in
17 Illinois for the current fiscal year shall equate to a minimum
18 of 20% of all taxable gasoline sold in Illinois during the
19 previous fiscal year.
20     (c) "Denatured ethanol" means an agriculturally derived
21 ethyl alcohol for blending with gasolines for use as automotive
22 spark-ignition engine fuel.

1     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
2 becoming law.
