Amends the Funeral Directors and Embalmers Licensing Code. Provides for the temporary authorization to practice funeral directing or funeral directing and embalming of applicants who hold an active, unencumbered license in good standing in another jurisdiction and who apply for licensure under the Act due to a natural disaster or catastrophic event. Effective immediately.

| AN ACT concerning regulation.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|

| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Funeral Directors and Embalmers Licensing |
5 |
| Code is amended by adding Section 1-25 as follows: |

| (225 ILCS 41/1-25 new)
|

| Sec. 1-25. Temporary authorization of applicants from |
8 |
| other jurisdictions. A person holding an active, unencumbered |
9 |
| license in good standing in another jurisdiction who applies |
10 |
| for a license pursuant to Section 5-5 or 10-5 of this Act due |
11 |
| to a natural disaster or catastrophic event may be temporarily |
12 |
| authorized by the Secretary to practice funeral directing or |
13 |
| funeral directing and embalming under the supervision of a |
14 |
| licensee under this Act, pending the issuance of the license. |
15 |
| This temporary authorization shall expire after 30 days or upon |
16 |
| notification that the Department has denied licensure, |
17 |
| whichever is sooner. |

| The Department may adopt all rules necessary for the |
19 |
| administration of this Section.

| Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
21 |
| becoming law.
