1     AN ACT concerning civil law.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Conveyances Act is amended by changing
5 Section 1 as follows:
 
6     (765 ILCS 5/1)  (from Ch. 30, par. 1)
7     Sec. 1. Livery of seizin shall in no case be necessary for
8 the the conveyance of real property; but every deed, mortgage
9 or other conveyance in writing, not procured by duress, and
10 signed by the party making the same, the maker or makers being
11 of full age and sound mind, shall be sufficient, without livery
12 of seizin, for the giving, granting, selling, mortgaging,
13 leasing or otherwise conveying or transferring any lands,
14 tenements or hereditaments in this state, so as, to all intents
15 and purposes, absolutely and fully to vest in every donee,
16 grantee, bargainee, mortgagee, lessee or purchaser, all such
17 estate or estates as shall be specified in any such deed,
18 mortgage, lease or other conveyance. Nothing herein contained
19 shall be so construed as to divest or defeat the older or
20 better estate or right of any person or persons, not party to
21 any such deed, mortgage, lease, or other conveyance.
