Amends the Department of Public health Powers and Duties law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Requires the Department, subject to appropriation, to develop and maintain a system for physicians and hospitals to voluntarily report their patients' serious adverse prescription drug effects. Requires that the system must include an Internet website where reports can be made and searched.

| AN ACT concerning State government.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Department of Public Health Powers and |
5 |
| Duties Law of the
Civil Administrative Code of Illinois is |
6 |
| amended by adding Section 2310-306 as follows: |
7 |
| (20 ILCS 2310/2310-306 new) |

| Sec. 2310-306. Prescription drug interaction prevention |
9 |
| reporting system. The Department of Public Health, subject to |
10 |
| appropriation, shall develop and maintain a system for |
11 |
| physicians and hospitals to voluntarily report their patients' |
12 |
| serious adverse effects from prescription drugs. The |
13 |
| Department shall determine the accessibility of the system, but |
14 |
| it shall include at least an Internet website where reports of |
15 |
| drug effects and interactions may be made and searched. The |
16 |
| Department shall also compile and transmit those reports to the |
17 |
| federal Food and Drug Administration. |

| The Department shall adopt rules for the implementation of |
19 |
| this Section, including without limitation procedures |
20 |
| addressing the anonymity of reporters and the confidentiality |
21 |
| of patient information.
