HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, Coach Steve Riederer has been named to the
3 Plainfield High School Athletic Hall of Fame; he has been a
4 coach for track and field and cross country since 1977; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Coach Riederer is the longest tenured coach in
6 District 202 history, and the first active coach to be inducted
7 into the Hall of Fame; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Steve Riederer is a 1969 graduate of Lincoln High
9 School in Manitowoc, Wisconsin; he played basketball, ran cross
10 country, and track and field during his high school career; and
 
11     WHEREAS, He earned a Bachelor's degree in physical
12 education at the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse, where he ran
13 cross country and track; he became team captain his senior year
14 and competed in the NAIA national cross country meet in
15 Liberty, Missouri; during his senior year he was joined on the
16 team by his brothers, Bill and Greg; and
 
17     WHEREAS, Steve Riederer began his teaching career at
18 Sandwich, coaching cross country and basketball; and
 
19     WHEREAS, In 1977 Steve Riederer became assistant boys track
20 and field coach while teaching at Crystal Lewis Elementary

1 School in Crest Hill; in 1980 he became coach of the cross
2 country program; and
 
3     WHEREAS, Coach Riederer has coached individual State
4 qualifiers nine times and two all-State runners; he won
5 regional championships in 2000 and 2001; during his coaching
6 tenure Plainfield Central High School has won six girls
7 conference titles; a total of 17 girls teams and 13 boys teams
8 have advanced to the sectional level under his leadership; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Steve Riederer and his wife, Celie, live in
10 Yorkville with their son, Tyler; therefore, be it
 
11     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
12 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
13 congratulate Coach Steve Riederer on being named to the
14 Plainfield Central High School Athletic Hall of Fame; and be it
15 further
 
16     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17 presented to Coach Steve Riederer as a symbol of our respect.
