HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Christl
4 M. Hansen of Mount Prospect on February 19, 2007; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Christl Hansen was the wife of former Cook County
6 Commissioner Carl Hansen; and
 
7     WHEREAS, Christl Hansen was born in Coburg, Germany in
8 1924; as a young girl she participated in state theater and was
9 crowned Miss Tourism in Bavaria; she was attending the
10 equivalent of a community college in Coburg and working for the
11 U.S. government running a youth center when she met her
12 husband, who was stationed in Germany during the occupation
13 after World War II; and
 
14     WHEREAS, When Carl Hansen returned to the United States to
15 pursue his education, he found himself missing Christl and soon
16 she arrived in the United States to become his wife; the couple
17 married in 1952 and she began attending classes at the Art
18 Institute of Chicago; and
 
19     WHEREAS, In 1958 the couple moved to Mount Prospect, where
20 Christl Hansen started an art group in her basement studio; she
21 was one of the founding members of the Mount Prospect Art

1 League and was known as one of the premier painters in the
2 Northwest suburbs; she received many awards and won numerous
3 art competitions over the years; and
 
4     WHEREAS, Christl Hansen is survived by her loving husband,
5 Carl; her son, Lothar; her sisters, Ursula Choate and Iris
6 Draper; her brother, Peter Bach; and her granddaughter;
7 therefore, be it
 
8     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
9 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
10 mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of
11 Christl M. Hansen; and be it further
 
12     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13 presented to the family of Christl M. Hansen as a symbol of our
14 sympathy.
