HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, Leo Clyde Franklin of Prairie du Rocher has been a
3 member of St. Joseph Post 622 of the American Legion for
4 sixty-one years; and
 
5     WHEREAS, In his role as chaplain, Mr. Franklin has, for
6 five decades, prayed the final prayers of respect, honor, and
7 gratitude at the graveside of his comrades, those who have
8 fallen as they paid down the supreme sacrifice for their
9 countrymen, as well as those who have returned from their
10 service to civilian life; and
 
11     WHEREAS, In his role as chaplain, Mr. Franklin has, on
12 behalf of the soldiers and sailors of his country, spoken the
13 last comforting words to his comrades' families, presenting
14 them with the hallowed flag of our beloved United States; and
 
15     WHEREAS, Mr. Franklin himself served in the Pacific theater
16 with the United States Navy from 1941 to 1945; and
 
17     WHEREAS, All of the servicemen and servicewomen of the
18 Prairie du Rocher area hold Mr. Franklin in the highest esteem
19 and consider him highly deserving of this honor; therefore, be
20 it

1     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
2 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
3 that we thank and honor Leo Clyde Franklin for his service to
4 his country, to his comrades, and to his community; and be it
5 further
 
6     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7 presented to Leo Clyde Franklin, as a symbol of our esteem.
