HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate Alice Cavanaugh of
4 Plainfield on the 90th anniversary of her birth, September 6,
5 2007; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Alice Cavanaugh was born on a farm in New Lenox on
7 September 6, 1917 to Norton and Agnes Deal; she grew up on
8 farms in New Lenox and Channahon townships; and
 
9     WHEREAS, She graduated from St Francis Academy and the
10 College of St. Francis; after graduating from college in 1939
11 she taught for 3 years in the Offerman School; she married
12 Arthur Cavanaugh, a Plainfield farmer, on April 25, 1942 in St.
13 Mary's Church in Minooka; they lived on the Plainfield farm for
14 22 years before moving into Plainfield; Mr. Cavanaugh died in
15 1984; and
 
16     WHEREAS, Alice has lived in the village for 43 years,
17 recently moving into Cedar Lake Senior Village in Plainfield;
18 In 1958, Alice went back to her teaching profession spending
19 time at the Jones School, Laraway School, and finally retiring
20 from the Plainfield School system in 1978; and
 
21     WHEREAS, Alice is very active in St. Mary's Church in

1 Plainfield, acting as a greeter at mass and as a member of CCW
2 and the Senior citizen group; in 2002 she received the CCW
3 Woman of the Year Award, representing St. Mary's parish, from
4 Bishop Imesch; she also received the Senior of the Year Award
5 from St. Mary's in 2002; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Alice Cavanaugh is the mother of eight children,
7 Carole, Judy, Jim, Pat, Terry, David, Ann, and John; the
8 grandmother of 25 grandchildren; and the great-grandmother of
9 21 great grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
10     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
11 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
12 congratulate Alice Cavanaugh on this milestone birthday and
13 wish her good health and happiness in the future; and be it
14 further
 
15     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16 presented to Alice Cavanaugh as a symbol of our respect and
17 esteem.
