| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Bruce Zywiec on the | ||||||
| 4 | occasion of his retirement from the Illinois State Police; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Bruce Zywiec earned his bachelor's degree in | ||||||
| 6 | Criminology from Indiana State University in 1978 and his | ||||||
| 7 | master's degree in Legal Studies from the University of | ||||||
| 8 | Illinois at Springfield in 2000; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Bruce Zywiec has had a long and distinguished | ||||||
| 10 | career in law enforcement; he was a probation officer with the | ||||||
| 11 | Lake County Juvenile Court in Gary, Indiana from 1978 to 1979; | ||||||
| 12 | and he was a patrol officer with the Schererville Police | ||||||
| 13 | Department in Schererville, Indiana from 1979 to 1983; and he | ||||||
| 14 | was a adjunct instructor at Heartland Community College in | ||||||
| 15 | Normal from 2003 to 2006; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Bruce Zywiec began his career with the Illinois | ||||||
| 17 | State Police in 1983 as a District 5 Patrol Officer; from 1985 | ||||||
| 18 | to 1986 he was a Zone 8 General Criminal Squad Investigator; | ||||||
| 19 | from 1986 to 1990 he was a Zone 4 Auto Theft Unit Investigator; | ||||||
| 20 | from 1990 to 1995 he was a District 1 Patrol Officer; from 1995 | ||||||
| 21 | to 1997 he was a staff member with the Illinois State Police | ||||||
| 22 | Academy; from 1997 to 2001 he was an Executive Officer with the | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | ISP Office of Labor Relations; from 2001 to 2002 he was a | ||||||
| 2 | District 6 Patrol Operations Officer; from 2002 to 2004 he was | ||||||
| 3 | a District 8 Patrol Commander; he became a Zone 5 Investigative | ||||||
| 4 | Commander in 2004, where he remained until his retirement; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Bruce Zywiec was the co-chairperson of the McLean | ||||||
| 6 | County Minority and Police Partnership of McLean County from | ||||||
| 7 | 2005 to 2006; he was a FBI National Academy Graduate with Class | ||||||
| 8 | #205 in 2001; and he was inducted into the UIS Legal Studies | ||||||
| 9 | Program Honors in 2000; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Bruce Zywiec was promoted to Sergeant in 1995, | ||||||
| 11 | Master Sergeant in 1997, Lieutenant in 2000, and Captain in | ||||||
| 12 | 2002; and | ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Bruce Zywiec's hard work and dedication to his | ||||||
| 14 | profession have truly been great assets to his fellow officers | ||||||
| 15 | and the citizens of this State; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 16 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 17 | NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 18 | congratulate Bruce Zywiec on his retirement, thank him for his | ||||||
| 19 | years of public service, and wish him continued success and | ||||||
| 20 | happiness in the future; and be it further
| ||||||
| 21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||

| 1 | presented to Bruce Zywiec as a symbol of our esteem and | ||||||
