HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Anthony
4 J. Peloza of Chicago, who passed away on July 1, 2007; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Anthony J. Peloza was born on July 23, 1920 in
6 Italy; in 1930 he came to the United States with his mother,
7 Mary, his father, Anton, and his sisters, Mary and Florence;
8 and
 
9     WHEREAS, Anthony J. Peloza, known by all as Tony, lived
10 with his family on the south side of Chicago; he learned the
11 English language and graduated from Bowen High School; he
12 served in the United States Army during World War II and was a
13 Corporal when he was honorably discharged; and
 
14     WHEREAS, Anthony J. Peloza worked for John Mohr and Sons
15 and Sergeant and Lundy for many years, where he found his niche
16 in the design of blast furnaces and the design of nuclear power
17 plants; he had a love and a talent for drawing; and
 
18     WHEREAS, On December 5, 1948, Anthony J. Peloza's life
19 changed forever when he met Helen A. Ashenbrener; their
20 whirlwind romance resulted in their marriage on October 15,
21 1949 at Sacred Heart Church in Chicago; the two celebrated

1 their golden wedding anniversary in 1999; and
 
2     WHEREAS, Anthony and Helen Peloza began their life together
3 in the second floor front apartment at 3017 East 95th Street in
4 Chicago; in August 1952 their first child, Susan, was born;
5 following the birth of their second daughter, Diane, in
6 September 1955, Tony and Helen purchased their first home at
7 1735 East 93rd Street in Chicago; eventually they sold their
8 home and relocated to Evergreen Park at 3100 West 101st Place
9 in Chicago, where they would remain for many years to come;
10 Tony and Helen were parents that not only provided for their
11 daughters materially, but instilled the values and virtues that
12 they held in their daughters; and
 
13     WHEREAS, Anthony J. Peloza retired in the middle 1980's,
14 with Helen retiring shortly afterward; during his retirement
15 years, Tony continued to love his life with Helen, spending
16 much of their time with their two granddaughters, Lisa and
17 Laura; and
 
18     WHEREAS, Anthony J. Peloza will be remembered by all who
19 knew him as a great husband and a father who would do anything
20 for his family; he will be forever be loved and remembered by
21 Helen, Susan, and Diane; therefore, be it
 
22     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE

1 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
2 mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of
3 Anthony J. Peloza; and be it further
 
4     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5 presented to the family of Anthony J. Peloza as an expression
6 of our sympathy.
