HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Sylvia
4 Gabel Pletcher of Plattville, who passed away on June 2, 2007;
5 and
 
6     WHEREAS, Sylvia Gabel Pletcher was born on January 6, 1926
7 in Joliet; she was a daughter of Stephen and Helen (Krokuik)
8 Ties; she married Russell Roy Gabel in Florida on September 14,
9 1945; they were married seven years until his unexpected death
10 on January 5, 1953; she later married Hugh Pletcher on November
11 29, 1975 in Plattville; and
 
12     WHEREAS, Sylvia Gabel Pletcher will long be remembered as a
13 devoted cornerstone of the Kendall County Republican Party,
14 where she served in many capacities, including active
15 membership of the Central Committee and as a political liaison,
16 a position she held since 1991; she was a proud member of the
17 United States Congressional Club; she was a former member of
18 the LaFox Charter Chapter of the American Business Women's
19 Association and was its 1984 Woman of the Year; she was the
20 precinct chairman for Lisbon Township; she was a charter member
21 of the Plattville VFW Auxiliary Post #8234; she was a former
22 coordinator for the DeKalb County Sandwich Fair Queen Pageant;
23 she was employed at the Country Charm in Yorkville as its

1 Fashion Coordinator for several years; and she was employed
2 from 1966 until 1991 as secretary of the Kendall County
3 Cooperative Extension Services; and
 
4     WHEREAS, Sylvia Gabel Pletcher was preceded in death by her
5 parents; her husbands; her brother, Stephen Ties; and her
6 sisters, Mary Ann Hollis and Bernadine Horkey; and
 
7     WHEREAS, Sylvia Gabel Pletcher is survived by her children,
8 Terry Gabel and his wife, Sue, and Patricia Norr and her
9 husband, Wayne; her grandson, Jeffrey Norr and his wife,
10 Elaine; her great-grandson, Isaac J. Norr; her sisters, Helen
11 Fracaro and Theresa Zuchowski; her brother and sisters-in-law,
12 Tom Horkey, Dorothy Shearer, and Alta (Larry) Langland; and
13 several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
14     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
15 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
16 mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Sylvia
17 Gabel Pletcher; and be it further
 
18     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19 presented to the family of Sylvia Gabel Pletcher as an
20 expression of our sympathy.
