HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, William C. Child is known throughout the State of
3 Illinois, in both the private and public sectors, for his
4 unquestionable integrity, honesty, and his relentless quest
5 for fairness and due process; and
 
6     WHEREAS, William C. Child is recognized by his superiors,
7 peers, and staff for his efforts in ensuring and providing
8 employee rights, safe work environments, and opportunities to
9 excel and succeed as professionals; and
 
10     WHEREAS, William C. Child is recognized by waste management
11 officials across the United States for his dedicated work on
12 their behalf; he has been duly recognized by the Association of
13 State and Territorial Waste Management Officials through their
14 highest award, the Lifetime Achievement Award; and
 
15     WHEREAS, William C. Child has been the heart and soul of
16 the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency's Bureau of Land
17 for more than three decades; as a result of his leadership, the
18 Bureau of Land has become widely recognized as one of the best
19 State cleanup and waste management organizations in the United
20 States; and
 
21     WHEREAS, William C. Child has been instrumental in the

1 development of State and Federal programs for the Bureau of
2 Land since the establishment of the Illinois Environmental
3 Protection Agency, including such programs as RCRA, CERCLA,
4 SARA, LUST, Voluntary Remediation, Brownfield Development,
5 State Permitting, Noise, Recycling, and too many more to name;
6 and
 
7     WHEREAS, William C. Child is recognized as an avid
8 fisherman; and
 
9     WHEREAS, William C. Child is a notorious consumer of diet
10 caffeinated beverages; he is also a wonderful teller of
11 humorous stories, some of which are even true; and
 
12     WHEREAS, William C. Child retired from the Illinois
13 Environmental Protection Agency on December 31, 2007, after 37
14 years of service to the citizens and environment of Illinois;
15 therefore, be it
 
16     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
17 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
18 designate January 10, 2008 as William C. Child Day in the State
19 of Illinois; and be it further
 
20     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21 presented to William C. Child as a symbol of our esteem and
