HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Cynthia
4 Ann Kelly of New York City, New York, who passed away on June
5 22, 2007; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Cynthia Ann Kelly was born on August 29, 1935 in
7 New York City, New York; her parents were Wilmot and Anna
8 Mitchell; she spent her entire life in New York City; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Soon after graduating from high school, Cynthia
10 Ann Kelly married Jesse Kelly; together, they had two children,
11 Glenn and Robin; and
 
12     WHEREAS, Cynthia Ann Kelly worked at a variety of positions
13 until she became employed with the United States Post Office,
14 where she remained until her retirement in 1999; and
 
15     WHEREAS, Cynthia Ann Kelly devoted much of her time and
16 energy to working with children; she was an active member of
17 the Experience Corps; she worked with young children from P.S.
18 277, helping them to improve their reading skills, an
19 experience that she enjoyed immensely; and
 
20     WHEREAS, In honor of Cynthia Ann Kelly's dedication to the

1 education of children, a fund will be set up in her name to
2 help the Experience Corps buy books for the children; and
 
3     WHEREAS, Cynthia Ann Kelly enjoyed reading, baseball,
4 board games, playing slot machines, traveling to Illinois to
5 spend time with her daughter and grandchildren, and traveling
6 with her children on trips to Florida, Las Vegas, Europe, and
7 Alaska; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Cynthia Ann Kelly was preceded in death by her
9 parents; her sisters, Marilyn and Wilma Mitchell; her brother,
10 Wilmot Mitchell; and her niece, Robin Mitchell; and
 
11     WHEREAS, Cynthia Ann Kelly is survived by her son, Glenn
12 Kelly; her daughter, Robin Kelly (Nathaniel); her
13 grandchildren, Kelly and Ryan Hamilton; her sisters, Carol
14 Carman and Gloria Mitchell; her nieces and nephews, Elise
15 Carman Farmer (Rob), Christopher Carman (Yvette), and Jason
16 Carman; her sister-in-law, Eva Mitchell; her best friend,
17 Shirley Pugh; and a host of other friends and associates; and
 
18     WHEREAS, Cynthia Ann Kelly will be remembered by all who
19 knew and loved her as a vibrant and lovely woman who enjoyed a
20 good debate on any topic; therefore, be it
 
21     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE

1 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
2 mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of
3 Cynthia Ann Kelly; and be it further
 
4     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5 presented to the family of Cynthia Ann Kelly as an expression
6 of our sympathy.
