HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Robert L.
4 Turner of Belvidere, who passed away on April 22, 2008; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was born on December 25, 1932, in Belvidere,
6 the son of Henry E. "Hank" and Lucille M. "Suzie" (Stehley)
7 Turner; he graduated from Belvidere High School and attended
8 the University of Wisconsin at Madison; and
 
9     WHEREAS, On October 18, 1964 he married Roberta Flemming in
10 Belvidere; he served in the United States Army from 1953 to
11 1955; and
 
12     WHEREAS, He was the former owner of Central Tire and
13 Battery, prior to becoming the Belvidere Township Supervisor in
14 1981; he was the director of the Township Officials of Illinois
15 for more than fifteen years, and president of the Supervisors'
16 Division in 2003-2004; and
 
17     WHEREAS, He was a member of the Belvidere Board of
18 Realtors, the Belvidere Chamber of Commerce, the Township
19 Officials of Illinois, the Belvidere IOU Club, Belvidere
20 Masonic Lodge 60 AFAM, the Freeport Valley Consistory, the
21 Tebala Shrine Temple, the Royal Order of Jesters, the

1 Kishwaukee Chapter of SAR, Growth Dimensions Board, the
2 Saturday Morning Coffee Club, and many others; and he served as
3 Chairman of the Boone County Republican Committee and as State
4 County Chairman; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He is remembered as a great Wisconsin Badger fan;
6 he is survived by his wife, Roberta; his children, Jill (Terry)
7 Phillips and Robert E. (Lisa) Turner; his grandchildren, Jacob
8 and Benjamin; and many friends, family members, and neighbors;
9 therefore, be it
 
10     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
11 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
12 mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Robert
13 L. Turner; and be it further
 
14     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15 presented to the family of Robert L. Turner as a symbol of our
16 sincere sympathy.
