    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

represented in the General Assembly:

    Section 5. The Illinois Act on the Aging is amended by 
5
changing Section 3.05 as follows:

    Sec. 3.05. "Aged" or "Senior citizen" means a person of 55 
8
years of age or older,
or a person nearing the
the age of 55 for 
9
whom opportunities for employment and
participation in 
10
community life are unavailable or severely limited and
who, as 
11
a result thereof, has difficulty in maintaining 
12
self-sufficiency
and contributing to the life of the community.
