SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
20 ILCS 2205/2205-15 new
30 ILCS 105/5.675 new

    Amends the Department of Public Aid Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois and the State Finance Act. Creates the Hunger Relief Fund as a special fund in the State treasury. Provides that, from appropriations to the Department of Healthcare and Family Services from the Fund, the Department shall make grants to members of the Illinois Food Bank Association for the purpose of making capital improvements, purchasing food, or acquiring other assets. Effective immediately.

1     AN ACT concerning finance.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Department of Public Aid Law of the Civil
5 Administrative Code of Illinois is amended by adding Section
6 2205-15 as follows:
 
7     (20 ILCS 2205/2205-15 new)
8     Sec. 2205-15. Hunger Relief Fund; grants.
9     (a) The Hunger Relief Fund is created as a special fund in
10 the State treasury. From appropriations to the Department from
11 the Fund, the Department shall make grants to members of the
12 Illinois Food Bank Association for the purpose of making
13 capital improvements, purchasing food, or acquiring other
14 assets.
15     (b) Moneys received for the purposes of this Section,
16 including, without limitation, appropriations, gifts,
17 donations, grants, and awards from any public or private entity
18 must be deposited into the Fund. Any interest earned on moneys
19 in the Fund must be deposited into the Fund.
 
20     Section 10. The State Finance Act is amended by adding
21 Section 5.675 as follows:

3     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
4 becoming law.
