Amends the General Assembly Article of the Illinois Pension Code. Provides that none of the retirement benefits provided in the Article shall be paid to any person who
is impeached by the House of Representatives and convicted and removed from office by the Senate. Provides that all participants in service or entering service after the effective date shall
be deemed to have consented to the provisions as a
condition of participation in the retirement system. Effective immediately.

| AN ACT concerning public employee benefits.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 |
| Section 5. The Illinois Pension Code is amended by adding |
5 |
| Section 2-156.1 as follows: |
6 |
| (40 ILCS 5/2-156.1 new) |
7 |
| Sec. 2-156.1. Impeachment. None of the benefits herein |
8 |
| provided for shall be paid to any person who
is impeached by |
9 |
| the House of Representatives and convicted and removed from |
10 |
| office by the Senate. |
11 |
| This Section shall not operate to impair any contract or |
12 |
| vested right acquired prior to the effective date of this |
13 |
| Section under any law or laws continued in this Article, nor to |
14 |
| preclude the right to a refund. |
15 |
| All participants entering service after the effective date |
16 |
| of this Section shall
be deemed to have consented to the |
17 |
| provisions of this Section as a
condition of participation.

| Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
19 |
| becoming law.
