| AN ACT concerning government.

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 |
| Section 5. The State Employees Group Insurance Act of 1971 |
| 5 |
| is amended by changing Section 15.1 as follows:
|
| 6 |
| (5 ILCS 375/15.1) (from Ch. 127, par. 535.1)

| Sec. 15.1.
Every group health insurance program or |
| 8 |
| self-insurance health
plan which provides coverage for |
| 9 |
| services coming within
the
the practice of optometry as defined |
| 10 |
| in the Illinois Optometric
Practice Act of 1987, as now or |
| 11 |
| hereafter amended, shall provide to each member a
written |
| 12 |
| notice that such member may elect for optometric services |
| 13 |
| received
to be reimbursed to either a physician licensed to |
| 14 |
| practice medicine in all
its branches or to an optometrist |
| 15 |
| licensed in this State. |
| 16 |
| This Section applies only to persons who become covered by |
| 17 |
| such group insurance
program or self-insurance health plan |
| 18 |
| after the effective date of this
amendatory Act of 1979.
