HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to honor the Klein family of 
4
Orangeville, who through their quick thinking and action saved 
5
the lives of their neighbors, the Dietmeiers; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, On May 4, 2009, Courtney Klein, the daughter of 
7
Charles "Chuck" and Nita Klein, noticed a fire developing in 
8
the garage of her neighbors, Melvin and Roselyn Dietmeier; and

 
9
    WHEREAS, The Dietmeiers, Melvin and Roselyn, are an elderly 
10
couple who reside across the road from the Kleins; and

 
11
    WHEREAS, Courtney Klein notified the rest of her family of 
12
the emergency; her mother called 9-1-1 and the entire family 
13
drove to the Dietmeier home, where they began knocking on 
14
windows and doors to awaken the couple; and

 
15
    WHEREAS, The Dietmeiers were awakened as their home began 
16
to fill with smoke; the garage was overtaken by the fire but 
17
the lives of Melvin and Roselyn Dietmeier were spared; and

 
18
    WHEREAS, Because of their unselfishness and willingness to 
19
serve others, the Klein family truly deserve to be called 
20
heroes; therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
2
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
3
congratulate the Klein family, Charles, Nita, Courtney, and 
4
Carly, on their willingness to help in the time of need, 
5
putting others ahead of themselves, and seeing a great outcome 
6
to what may been a tragedy; and be it further

 
7
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8
presented to the Klein family as a symbol of our respect.
