HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate U.S. Army Major
4 Anne Brophy for being named one of the Ten Outstanding Young
5 People in Illinois for 2010; and
 
6     WHEREAS, The Ten Outstanding Young People in Illinois
7 designation is awarded by the Illinois Jaycee Senate to those
8 who offer their time, talent, and expertise to have a positive
9 impact on individuals and their communities; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Anne Brophy is a graduate of Carmel High School,
11 Marquette University, and John Keller Law School; and
 
12     WHEREAS, Anne Brophy serves as a Judge Advocate in the
13 United States Army; in January of 2009, she began a tour of
14 duty in Kandahar, Afghanistan; while in Afghanistan, she led 2
15 liturgical choirs, assisted in mortuary activities, chaired
16 Soldiers Christmas Caroling on base, and helped to keep up
17 morale among her fellow soldiers through her decorating
18 competitions; and
 
19     WHEREAS, Anne Brophy is a member of the Women's League of
20 Voters, St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Waukegan Elks Lodge,
21 Woodstock VFW Post 5040, and the Crystal Lake Jaycees; she

1 served as a CCD teacher at St. Mary's for 5 years and
2 established the "Blue Star Banner Group" to help support the
3 families of service people while their loved ones are serving
4 our country; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Anne Brophy will be honored at the Medallion
6 Presentation, Formal Dinner, and Ten Outstanding Young People
7 Honors Program at the Decatur Conference Center & Hotel in
8 Decatur on May 1, 2010; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Anne Brophy serves as a model of hard work,
10 integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of
11 Illinois; therefore, be it
 
12     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
13 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
14 congratulate U.S. Army Major Anne Brophy for being named one of
15 the Ten Outstanding Young People in Illinois for 2010 and wish
16 her continued success and happiness in the future; and be it
17 further
 
18     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19 presented to Anne Brophy as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
