| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Tracy Williams for | ||||||
| 4 | receiving the "2010 Most Innovative Blood Drive Coordinator | ||||||
| 5 | Award" from the Illinois Coalition of Community Blood Centers; | ||||||
| 6 | and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Tracy Williams is a full-time detective with the | ||||||
| 8 | Evanston Police; in November 2009, Detective Tracy's good | ||||||
| 9 | friend, Officer Joseph Bush was severely injured in an accident | ||||||
| 10 | on his way to work; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, In the first few weeks after the accident, doctors | ||||||
| 12 | did not think Officer Bush would survive; in an effort to save | ||||||
| 13 | his dear friend, Detective Williams contacted LifeSource and | ||||||
| 14 | the Joseph Bush Replenishment Fund Blood Drive was soon | ||||||
| 15 | scheduled for December of 2009, the most difficult month of the | ||||||
| 16 | year to collect blood; and
| ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Detective Williams visited a number of police and | ||||||
| 18 | fire departments throughout the Chicago area to promote the | ||||||
| 19 | drive, including Deerfield, Evanston, Glenview, Lincolnwood, | ||||||
| 20 | Morton Grove, Northbrook, Niles, Rosemont, Skokie, and | ||||||
| 21 | Woodridge, where he personally asked individual law | ||||||
| 22 | enforcement and fire officials to donate blood; and
| ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Detective Williams also reached out to various | ||||||
| 2 | media outlets, including the Chicago Tribune, Chicago | ||||||
| 3 | Sun-Times, and other local newspapers;
and | ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Detective Williams created a website for the blood | ||||||
| 5 | drive which included updates on Officer Bush's recovery; and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, The Joseph Bush Replenishment Blood Drive was a | ||||||
| 7 | huge success, bringing in nearly 300 donors; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, In 2010, LifeSource Chicagoland's Blood Center | ||||||
| 9 | nominated Detective Tracy Williams as the "Most Innovative | ||||||
| 10 | Blood Drive Coordinator" in a State-wide competition hosted by | ||||||
| 11 | the Illinois Coalition of Community Blood Centers; therefore, | ||||||
| 12 | be it
| ||||||
| 13 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 14 | NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 15 | commend Detective Tracy Williams for his commitment to the | ||||||
| 16 | recovery of his friend, Officer Joseph Bush, and his hard work | ||||||
| 17 | in making the Joseph Bush Replenishment Fund Blood Drive a | ||||||
| 18 | success; and be it further
| ||||||
| 19 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 20 | presented to Detective Tracy Williams as a symbol of our | ||||||
