HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, Marlene Ann Gabel (nee Lazow) was born on January
311, 1931, in Chicago; her parents were Morris and Loretta
4Lazow; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Marlene Ann Gabel lived with her parents and
6sisters, Diane and Phyllis, on the Westside of Chicago; she
7enjoyed a warm and happy childhood and was surrounded by
8extended family members; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Marlene Ann Gabel attended the University of
10Illinois at Champaign, where she was an excellent student; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Marlene Ann Gabel regularly vacationed at Union
12Pier, Michigan with her family; in 1948, she met Seymour Gabel,
13who courted her with ping pong balls; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Marlene Ann Lazow and Seymour Gabel were married
15on May 28, 1950; together, the couple had 3 children, Robyn,
16Mitchell, and Amy; and
 
17    WHEREAS, When her youngest child went to college, Marlene
18Ann Gabel returned to college and graduated from Oakton
19Community College with a degree in computer programming; and

1    WHEREAS, Marlene Ann Gabel was employed at Protection
2Mutual as a computer programmer, where she added great value to
3the company; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Marlene Ann Gabel has been blessed with three
5grandchildren, Lilah, Lewis, and Ilyssa; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Marlene Ann Gabel is an excellent cook and baker;
7she is especially known for her mandel bread; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Marlene Ann Gabel has great medical diagnosis
9skills, despite not having a medical degree; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Marlene Ann Gabel has been a strong support for
11her children and her husband and has always been available for
12advice and assistance; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
14NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
15congratulate Marlene Ann Gabel on the occasion of her 80th
16birthday on January 11, 2011 and wish her many more happy and
17healthy years to come; and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to Marlene Ann Gabel as a symbol of our esteem and
20respect.
