Amends the Children and Family Services Act. Provides that beginning on the effective date of this amendatory Act, the Department of Children and Family Services shall investigate reports of abuse or neglect of any person between the ages of 18 and 21 years who is identified as having a developmental disability or a mental illness, as defined in the Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Code, and is receiving services in a residental setting licensed by the Department of Children and Family Services. Effective immediately.

| AN ACT concerning State government.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|

| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Children and Family Services Act is amended |
5 |
| by adding Section 5.36 as follows: |
6 |
| (20 ILCS 505/5.36 new) |
7 |
| Sec. 5.36. Developmentally disabled or mentally ill |
8 |
| adults; investigation of abuse. Beginning on the effective date |
9 |
| of this amendatory Act of the 96th General Assembly, the |
10 |
| Department shall investigate reports of abuse or neglect of any |
11 |
| person between the ages of 18 and 21 years who is identified as |
12 |
| having a developmental disability or a mental illness, as |
13 |
| defined in the Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities |
14 |
| Code, and is receiving services in a residential setting |
15 |
| licensed by the Department of Children and Family Services.

| Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
17 |
| becoming law.
