SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
625 ILCS 5/16-104e new

    Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that a person found guilty of or pleading guilty to, including any person receiving a disposition of court supervision, a violation of this Code or a similar provision of a local ordinance shall pay, at a minimum, a fine or penalty, inclusive of costs, equal to the amount of bail required by the Illinois Supreme Court Rules. Provides that this amendatory Act shall not limit the discretion of the court to impose a fine or penalty greater than the minimum. Effective January 1, 2011.

1     AN ACT concerning transportation.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding
5 Section 16-104e as follows:
 
6     (625 ILCS 5/16-104e new)
7     Sec. 16-104e. Minimum penalty for traffic offenses. A
8 person found guilty of or pleading guilty to, including any
9 person receiving a disposition of court supervision, a
10 violation of this Code or a similar provision of a local
11 ordinance shall pay, at a minimum, a fine or penalty, inclusive
12 of costs, equal to the amount of bail required by Supreme Court
13 Rule 526. This Section shall not limit the discretion of the
14 court to impose a fine or penalty greater than the minimum
15 amount required by this Section.
 
16     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect January
17 1, 2011.
