SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Joseph W. Hubbard of O'Fallon, who passed
4 away on April 9, 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Joseph W. Hubbard was born April 3, 1926 in
6 O'Fallon; he graduated from O'Fallon Township High School in
7 1944; after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy
8 and fought during World War II, receiving several medals; after
9 returning from the war, he married Betty Whitehead in June of
10 1947; and
 
11     WHEREAS, He served as a Justice of the Peace for 8 years,
12 Alderman from 1969 to 1977, and a Township Trustee from 1957 to
13 1977 and 2005 to the present; and
 
14     WHEREAS, He was a founding and charter member of the
15 O'Fallon Jaycees; as a Jaycee, he helped start O'Fallon's first
16 little league baseball league, as well as coached for many
17 years; he was a lifelong member of First United Methodist
18 Church of O'Fallon, a member of the O'Fallon Sesquicentennial
19 Committee, a 50-year member of the Masons, Scottish Rite and
20 Shriners, a lifetime member of both the O'Fallon Sportsman Club
21 and American Legion, a charter and founding member of both the
22 Shiloh Valley Bassmasters and O'Fallon Bass Casters, a member

1 of the O'Fallon YMCA and O'Fallon Senior Citizens Club, and he
2 was the 2007 O'Fallon Chamber of Commerce Recipient Award for
3 Volunteerism; he was also self-employed as an owner and
4 salesman for Air Hydraulics in St. Louis, Missouri; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Joseph Hubbard was preceded in death by his
6 parents Joseph E. and Mary G., nee Campbell, Hubbard.; and
 
7     WHEREAS, He is survived by his loving wife, of nearly 62
8 years, Betty Jane, nee Whitehead, Hubbard; his two sons, Craig
9 (Claudia) Hubbard and Eric (Debbie) Hubbard; his four
10 grandchildren, Joele (Ken) Pinkerton, Lauren Hubbard, Nathan
11 (Autymn) Hubbard, and Emilee Hubbard; his great-granddaughter,
12 Kailee Hubbard; and numerous cousins; therefore, be it
 
13     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
14 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
15 his family and friends, the passing of Joseph Hubbard; and be
16 it further
 
17     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18 presented to the family of Joseph Hubbard as a symbol of our
19 sincere sympathy.
