SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Elsie Tonyan of McHenry, who passed away
4 on May 26, 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Elsie Tonyan was born on February 12, 1911 in
6 Waukegan; her parents were Anton and Mary (Pekley) Stebley; she
7 married Sylvester "Wes" Tonyan in Waukegan on January 5, 1937;
8 and
 
9     WHEREAS, Elsie Tonyan graduated from Waukegan Township
10 High School in 1929; she was a longtime resident of the
11 McHenry-Johnsburg area; and
 
12     WHEREAS, Elsie Tonyan served as the Vice President of her
13 husband's business, Tonyan Bros. Inc., for 44 years; and
 
14     WHEREAS, Elsie Tonyan was a member of St. John the Baptist
15 Church; and
 
16     WHEREAS, Elsie Tonyan was an avid bridge player and read
17 three newspapers daily; she also enjoyed traveling and spending
18 time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and
 
19     WHEREAS, Elsie Tonyan was preceded in death by her husband,

1 Wes; her daughter, Audrey; her parents; and her brother, Robert
2 Stebley; and
 
3     WHEREAS, Elsie Tonyan is survived by her son, James (Laura)
4 Tonyan; her son-in-law, John Regner; her grandchildren, Sara
5 (Franz) Kuehnrich, John Regner Jr., Lindsay Tonyan, and Wesley
6 Tonyan; and her great-grandchildren, Philip, Audria, and
7 William; therefore, be it
 
8     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
9 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
10 her family and friends, the passing of Elsie Tonyan; and be it
11 further
 
12     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13 presented to the family of Elsie Tonyan as an expression of our
14 sympathy.
