SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Dr. G. Richard Locke of Decatur, who
4 passed away on August 29, 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, G. Richard Locke was born on January 12, 1937 in
6 Youngstown, Ohio; he attended DePauw University in
7 Greencastle, Indiana, where he met his future wife, Judy Blang;
8 after graduating from DePauw, the two married on August 2,
9 1958; he then received his Doctor of Medicine degree from
10 Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland,
11 Ohio, where he was Alpha Omega Alpha; after receiving his
12 doctorate, he trained in radiology at the University of Iowa;
13 and
 
14     WHEREAS, After serving in the United States Army from 1966
15 to 1968, G. Richard Locke and his family moved to Decatur; he
16 worked at Decatur Memorial Hospital, where he was credited for
17 bringing modern, comprehensive cancer care to the community; he
18 later served as the Chairman of the Department of Radiology at
19 DMH until his retirement in 2002; and
 
20     WHEREAS, G. Richard Locke was a Fellow in the American
21 College of Radiology and served on the Board of Trustees of
22 DePauw University and Millikin University; and

1     WHEREAS, G. Richard Locke is survived by his wife, Judy;
2 his sons, Giles Richard Locke III (Jean), Jonathan Locke
3 (Kathy), Mark Locke (Sarah), and J. Michael Locke (Heather);
4 his grandchildren, Katherine and Giles Richard Locke IV (Chip);
5 Madeline, Emily, Anna, and Jack; Ellie, Charles, Henry, and
6 William; and J. Michael (Skip), Catherine, Caroline, and
7 Graham; and his sisters, Jane Thompson (Jim) and Helen Layden
8 (Jim); therefore, be it
 
9     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
10 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
11 his family and friends, the passing of Dr. G. Richard Locke;
12 and be it further
 
13     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14 presented to the family of G. Richard Locke as an expression of
15 our sympathy.
