SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Juanita "Nita" Ann Cornell Quigley, CMSGT
4 USAF, Ret., of Trenton, who passed away on May 14, 2010; and
 
5     WHEREAS, She was born August 8, 1941 in Jeffers, Minnesota
6 to Lloyd and Clara (Greiner) Shaw; she married Paul Anthony
7 Quigley on October 9, 1976; and
 
8     WHEREAS, She retired as a CMSGT after 26 years in the
9 United States Air Force; she was an honor graduate of Basic
10 Military Training, Personnel Training School, Air Force
11 Recruiting School, and she was awarded Outstanding Recruiter of
12 the Year; she was a Wing Career Advisor, where she created the
13 Career Counseling that is still used today; she was a Personnel
14 Specialist and achieved Personnel Assistant Manager status;
15 she was on Special Duty Assignment at AMC; and she was IMA
16 Chief for TACC, where she developed numerous guidance policies
17 and was relied on and trusted to manage that command function;
18 and
 
19     WHEREAS, She was given the Air Force Meritorious Medal with
20 Cluster, three Air Force Commendation Medals, and three
21 Achievement Medal Awards; she also received numerous awards and
22 was selected for Senior NCO of the Year for AMC in 2000; and

1     WHEREAS, She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and
2 Altar Sodality, where she served as a Lector and Eucharistic
3 Minister; the Trenton American Legion; the Trenton VFW
4 Auxiliary, where she was a Lifetime Member; a volunteer for the
5 Hospice of Southern Illinois; a volunteer for Multiple
6 Sclerosis Fundraising; a participant in the 50 Mile MS
7 Challenge Walk; a Christian Missionary; and she was a
8 professional clown; she formerly worked as a beautician and was
9 the past owner/operator of Skeeter's Cut and Curl Beauty Salon
10 and Boutique in Elburn; and
 
11     WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd
12 and Clara (Greiner) Shaw; her infant daughter, Theresa Jean
13 Cornell; her brothers, Duane Vincent Shaw, Lawrence Shaw, and
14 Tommy Shaw; her sister, Joan Kay Shaw; her maternal
15 grandparents, Matthias and Anna Greiner; her paternal
16 grandparents, Jacob and Lottie Shaw; and her father-in-law and
17 mother-in-law, Henry and Marion Quigley; and
 
18     WHEREAS, Juanita Quigley is survived by her husband, Paul;
19 her son, Bradley John (Debra) Cornell; her daughter, Elizabeth
20 "Beth" Joan (Curt) Meredith; her grandchildren, Jason Lloyd
21 Bradley (Jaclyn) Cornell, Christopher Len (Jeny) Cornell,
22 Angeline Joan Meredith, and Madeline Elyse Meredith; her
23 great-grandchildren, Noah Lloyd Bradley Cornell, Caleb

1 Christopher Cornell, and Landon Levi Cornell; her step-sons,
2 Paul Quigley, Jr. and Michael Patrick (Jeanine) Quigley; her
3 siblings, Douglas Robert (Sherri) Shaw, Michael Allen Shaw,
4 Mary Jean (Wayne) Herzog, William Steven (Jean) Shaw, Gregory
5 Mark (Pam) Shaw, Kathryn Joan (Scott) Oines, and Victoria Renee
6 Kapphahn; her brother-in-law, Hank Quigley; her honorary
7 sister, Sherry (Ron) Deien; her special friends, Charlotte
8 (Gary) Reymond, Annie Duing, and Mary Douthitt; and a host of
9 relatives and friends; therefore, be it
 
10     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
11 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
12 her family and friends, the passing of Juanita Quigley; and be
13 it further
 
14     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15 presented to the family of Juanita Quigley as a symbol of our
16 sincere sympathy.
