SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Louis P. Farina, former Alderman in the
4City of Chicago, who passed away on August 11, 2010; and
 
5    WHEREAS, He grew up in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of
6Chicago and was a graduate of Wells High School; he was a
7veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army
8Medical Corp; he was a proud recipient of the Purple Heart and
9the Bronze Star; and
 
10    WHEREAS, He attended DePaul University and John Marshall
11Law School; he was Chicago's parking commissioner from 1961 to
121978 and a deputy commissioner at the Department of Streets and
13Sanitation from 1978 to 1980; he was also a real estate agent;
14and
 
15    WHEREAS, Mr. Farina served as an alderman for three years,
16from 1980 to 1983, serving the 36th Ward; he later worked with
17the Safer Foundation, helping former inmates; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Louis Farina was the beloved husband of Rose, nee
19Torina; the devoted father of Philip (Kathleen), James (Rita),
20Richard (Patti), and Mark (Diane) Farina; and the fond
21grandfather of Lauren, Nicholas, Lisa, Olivia, Michael, Louis,

1and the late Casey; therefore, be it
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
4his family and friends, the passing of Louis Farina; and be it
5further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to the family of Louis Farina as a symbol of our
8sincere sympathy.
