SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Michael Allan Zippay Sr. of Mt. Olive,
4who passed away on January 1, 2011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, He was born on August 17, 1933 in White City to
6the late Michael Albert Zippay and the late Annabelle Busonic;
7he married Donna Kay Roehl on February 27, 1960; he attended
8White City Grade School and Mt. Olive High School, graduating
9in 1951; he also attended Southern Illinois University in
10Carbondale for 2 years; he also served in the United States
11Army; and
 
12    WHEREAS, He served as the Macoupin County Treasurer from
131970 to 1994; he also worked for the State of Illinois
14Department of Public Safety; he sold insurance and real estate
15for many years and was currently the co-owner of Zip's Perk
16Restaurant in Mt. Olive; and
 
17    WHEREAS, He was a member of the Macoupin County Board from
181995 to his passing; he was a Mt. Olive Precinct Committeeman
19for 56 years; he was a former President of the Illinois
20Treasurers Association; he was a member of Croation Lodge #217
21in Benld; he was a former Mt. Olive volunteer fireman; he was a
22member of the Staunton Knights of Columbus; he was a life

1member of the Mt. Olive Turner Hall and the Yurkovich-Beck
2American Legion Post #594 in Mt. Olive; and
 
3    WHEREAS, He enjoyed baseball, playing in high school and in
4the Army; he played one year in the minor leagues for the Mt.
5Vernon Kings and the Mattoon Indians; he played in the 3M
6League for White City; and he played first base for the Mt.
7Olive Turner Hall Kittenball Team; and
 
8    WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents and his
9wife, Donna; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Michael Allan Zippay Sr. is survived by his son,
11Michael Allan (Sandy) Zippay Jr.; his daughters, Michele
12Zippay, Mary (Mark) Subick, and Melinda Zippay; his grandsons,
13Michael Allan (fiance, Jennifer Spudich) Zippay III, Mitchell
14Zippay, Colin Subick, and Dylan Zippay; his granddaughters,
15Tiffany Zippay and Jenna Subick; and his sister, Lavaughn
16(Marvin) Welge; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
19his family and friends, the passing of Michael Allan Zippay
20Sr.; and be it further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
