AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 1069

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 1069 by replacing
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:
 
4    "Section 5. The Department of State Police Law of the Civil
5Administrative Code of Illinois is amended by changing Section
62605-90 as follows:
 
7    (20 ILCS 2605/2605-90)
8    (This Section may contain text from a Public Act with a
9delayed effective date)
10    Sec. 2605-90. Training; death and homicide investigations.
11The Department shall provide training in death and homicide
12investigation for State police officers. Only State police
13officers who successfully complete the training may be assigned
14as lead investigators in death and homicide investigations.
15Satisfactory completion of the training shall be evidenced by a
16certificate issued to the officer by the Department.

1    The Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board
2shall develop a process for waiver applications sent by the
3agency administrator for those officers whose prior training
4and experience as homicide investigators may qualify them for a
5waiver. The Board may issue a waiver at its discretion, based
6solely on the prior training and experience of an officer as a
7homicide investigator.

9    Section 10. The Illinois Police Training Act is amended by
10changing Section 10.11 as follows:

14    Sec. 10.11. Training; death and homicide investigation.
15The Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board shall
16conduct or approve a training program in death and homicide
17investigation for the training of law enforcement officers of
18local government agencies. Only law enforcement officers who
19successfully complete the training program may be assigned as
20lead investigators in death and homicide investigations.
21Satisfactory completion of the training program shall be
22evidenced by a certificate issued to the law enforcement
23officer by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards
24Board.
