2 | | Shield/Desert Storm license plates to any Illinois resident who |
3 | | has earned the Southwest Asia Service Medal from the United |
4 | | States Armed Forces. The special plates issued pursuant to
this |
5 | | Section may be affixed only to passenger vehicles of the first
|
6 | | division, motorcycles, or motor vehicles of the second division |
7 | | weighing not more
than
8,000 pounds. Plates issued under this |
8 | | Section shall expire according to the staggered multi-year |
9 | | procedure established by Section 3-414.1 of this Code. |
10 | | (b) The design, color, and format of the plates shall be |
11 | | wholly within the discretion of the Secretary of State. |
12 | | Appropriate documentation, as
determined by the Secretary, and |
13 | | the appropriate registration
fee shall accompany the |
14 | | application. The Secretary may, in his or her discretion, allow |
15 | | the plates to be issued as vanity plates or personalized in |
16 | | accordance with Section 3-405.1 of this Code. The plates are |
17 | | not required to designate "Land of Lincoln", as prescribed in |
18 | | subsection (b) of Section 3-412 of this Code. The Secretary |
19 | | shall, in his or her discretion, approve and prescribe stickers |
20 | | or decals as provided under Section 3-412. |

23 | | (a) In addition to any other special license plate, the |
24 | | Secretary, upon
receipt of all applicable fees and applications |
25 | | made in the form prescribed by
the Secretary of State, may |

U.S. Coast |
2 | | Guard license plates to
residents of Illinois who meet |
3 | | eligibility requirements prescribed by the
Secretary of State. |
4 | | The special plate issued under this Section shall be

6 | | vehicles of the second
division weighing not more than 8,000 |
7 | | pounds, and recreational vehicles as
defined by Section 1-169 |
8 | | of this Code. Plates issued under this Section shall

$15 shall be deposited into the Secretary |
25 | | of State
Special License Plate Fund
and $5 shall be deposited |
26 | | into the Coast Guard Mutual Assistance Fund. For
each |

1 | | registration renewal period, a $20 fee, in addition to the |
2 | | appropriate
registration fee, shall be charged. Of this |
3 | | additional fee, $2 shall be
deposited into the Secretary
of |
4 | | State Special License Plate Fund and $18 shall be deposited |
5 | | into the Coast Guard Mutual Assistance Fund.

6 | | (d) The Coast Guard Mutual Assistance Fund is created as a |
7 | | special fund
in the State treasury. All moneys in the Coast |
8 | | Guard Mutual Assistance Fund
shall, subject to
appropriation by |
9 | | the General Assembly and approval by the Secretary, be
used
as |
10 | | grants for charitable purposes and financial assistance |
11 | | programs sponsored by Coast Guard Mutual Assistance, Inc., a
|
12 | | recognized charitable organization that meets the requirements |
13 | | of Title 26,
Section 501(c)(3) of the United States Code.

14 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
15 | | becoming law.".
