SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
405 ILCS 5/3-807  from Ch. 91 1/2, par. 3-807

    Amends the Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Code. Provides that no respondent may be found subject to involuntary admission on an inpatient or outpatient basis unless at least one psychiatrist, clinical social worker, clinical psychologist, or qualified examiner (rather than at least one psychiatrist, clinical social worker, or clinical psychologist) who has examined the respondent (rather than who has examined him) testifies in person at the hearing. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning health.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Mental Health and Developmental
5Disabilities Code is amended by changing Section 3-807 as
6follows:
 
7    (405 ILCS 5/3-807)  (from Ch. 91 1/2, par. 3-807)
8    Sec. 3-807. No respondent may be found subject to
9involuntary admission on an inpatient or outpatient basis
10unless at least one psychiatrist, clinical social worker, or
11clinical psychologist, or qualified examiner who has examined
12the respondent him testifies in person at the hearing. The
13respondent may waive the requirement of the testimony subject
14to the approval of the court.

16    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
17becoming law.
