SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
820 ILCS 320/4 new

    Amends the Public Safety Employee Benefits Act. Provides the health benefits of that Act to a person who is employed as a security guard by the State on a full-time, part-time, temporary, or contractual-payroll basis and whose death or catastrophic injury in the line of duty occurs on or after September 1, 2011. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning public employee benefits.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Public Safety Employee Benefits Act is
5amended by adding Section 4 as follows:
 
6    (820 ILCS 320/4 new)
7    Sec. 4. State security guards.
8    (a) A person who is employed as a security guard by the
9State on a full-time, part-time, temporary, or
10contractual-payroll basis and who suffers a catastrophic
11injury or is killed in the line of duty on or after September
121, 2011 under circumstances described in subsection (b) of
13Section 10 is entitled to the benefits provided in that
14Section, notwithstanding the "full-time" requirement of
15subsection (a) of that Section.
16    (b) As used in this Section, "State" means the State of
17Illinois or any of its departments, divisions, boards, bureaus,
18commissions, authorities, colleges, and universities.
 
19    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
20becoming law.
