| 1 | AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 4333

| 2 | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 4333 by replacing | ||||||
| 3 | everything after the enacting clause with the following:

| 4 | "Section 5. The Housing Authorities Act is amended by | ||||||
| 5 | adding Section 8.24 as follows: | ||||||
| 6 | (310 ILCS 10/8.24 new) | ||||||
| 7 | Sec. 8.24. Housing Ombudsman. A Housing Authority located | ||||||
| 8 | within a municipality having a population of 1,000,000 or more | ||||||
| 9 | shall establish a Housing Ombudsman to mediate disputes between | ||||||
| 10 | residents and housing developments under the jurisdiction of | ||||||
| 11 | the Housing Authority. The Housing Authority shall operate a | ||||||
| 12 | hotline for the purpose of receiving phone calls from residents | ||||||
| 13 | with housing complaints. If a Housing Authority fails to comply | ||||||
| 14 | with this Section, then the Department of Revenue shall reduce | ||||||
| 15 | payments made to the local municipality from the Local | ||||||
| 16 | Government Distributive Fund by 0.5% each month until | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | compliance has been reached.

| 2 | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon | ||||||
| 3 | becoming law.".
