2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate James E. Mentesti on the |
4 | | occasion of his retirement after 27 years of service to the |
5 | | Great River Economic Development Foundation (GREDF); and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, James Mentesti has been helping business grow in |
7 | | Quincy and Adams County since 1986; he serves as director of |
8 | | the Rural Adams Development Corporation and is a member of the |
9 | | 35-county Tri-State Development Steering Committee; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, James Mentesti served as director of development |
11 | | for 11 years at Quincy College (now Quincy University) and was |
12 | | later administrative manager of Quintron Corporation in |
13 | | Quincy; he graduated from Quincy College with a bachelor of |
14 | | science degree in business management; and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, James Mentesti's major accomplishments as GREDF |
16 | | president include: the retention of Knapheide Manufacturing |
17 | | after the flood of 1993, the Teska Study for Downtown |
18 | | Development, the East Broadway Corridor Study, creation of the |
19 | | Tri-State Development Summit, several quality of life |
20 | | initiatives, creation of the Rural Adams Development |
21 | | Corporation, development of the Adams County GIS System, |
22 | | procuring industries to locate in the Edward Schneidman |

1 | | Industrial Park, being named the Illinois Development Council |
2 | | Developer of the Year in 1991, and serving as the Illinois |
3 | | Development Council President from 1994-1995; and

4 | | WHEREAS, James Mentesti has worked tirelessly to recruit |
5 | | businesses for his community, including Blue Cross-Blue |
6 | | Shield, Wis-Pak Bottling Company, Jos. A. Bank, Cullinan |
7 | | Properties, Home Depot, Prince Agri Products, and Fitzpatrick |
8 | | Brothers; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, James Mentesti has had many community leadership |
10 | | roles, serving as charter director of the Community Foundation |
11 | | of the Quincy area, Quincy University Trustee Emeritus, |
12 | | president of the Quincy University Foundation, past president |
13 | | of the Quincy Parks Foundation, board member of the Jackson |
14 | | Lincoln Swimming Complex, past president of the First Tee of |
15 | | Great River, past president of the Kiwanis Club of Quincy, past |
16 | | president of Spring Lake Country Club, board member of the |
17 | | Quincy area Chamber of Commerce, steering committee member of |
18 | | the Salvation Army Kroc Center, and past board member of the |
19 | | Workforce Investment Board of Western Illinois; therefore, be |
