HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Scott Crane of
4Northbrook on receiving the Robert Ross Personal Achievement
5Award for the State of Illinois, presented by the Muscular
6Dystrophy Association, on May 3, 2011; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Scott has a rare form of Muscular Dystrophy called
8Centronuclear Myopathy; after graduation from Glenbrook North
9High School he attended community college, volunteered at the
10Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, and worked at the Corner
11Bakery Cafe at Northbrook Court in Northbrook; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Scott is being honored for his creation of "In
13Chef's Hands-Food Therapy for the Soul," a charity that pairs
14individuals with special needs who also have a passion for
15cooking and food with renowned chefs for a unique, one-on-one
16experience; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Through his cousin, Scott was introduced to Chef
18Rodelio Agilbot, the "Food Buddha"; Chef Agilbot invited Scott
19and his family to brunch at Sunda Restaurant where he worked
20with Scott, showing him how to roll sushi and how to make the
21Chef's signature dish; through this experience, Scott came up
22with the idea of pairing chefs with special needs individuals;

2    WHEREAS, In addition, Scott has written the Midwest Hospice
3Cookbook and writes a food blog; and
 
4    WHEREAS, The Robert Ross Personal Achievement Award
5recognizes the exemplary accomplishments and community service
6of people who have a neuromuscular disease; Scott is the first
7person from the Chicago area to receive this honor; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Scott is the son of Teena and Michael Crane of
9Northbrook; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
11NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
12we congratulate Scott Crane on receiving the Robert Ross
13Personal Achievement Award for the State of Illinois and wish
14Scott the best of luck as he competes for the 2012 Muscular
15Dystrophy National Award, to be announced on the Jerry Lewis
16Muscular Dystrophy Telethon in September; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to Scott Crane as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
