HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to honor United States Marine
4Corporal John M. Peck for his service and dedication to his
5country; and
 
6    WHEREAS, He enlisted in the Marines in September of 2005;
7he received two Purple Hearts for injuries he suffered during
8his time of service; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Corporal Peck served with the 3rd Battalion, 1st
10Marines Weapons Company assigned in Helmund Province,
11Afghanistan; on May 24, 2010 his company encountered an
12improvised explosive device and Corporal Peck was seriously
13wounded; he lost both his legs and arms in the attack; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Corporal Peck had previously been wounded in Iraq
15during his first tour of duty, also as a result of an
16improvised explosive device; and
 
17    WHEREAS, This brave young man continues to fight for his
18life; he has undergone 27 surgeries and received over 81
19transfusions in the last year; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Corporal Peck, soon to be Sergeant Peck, is

1scheduled to be honored at the Antioch VFW on May 9, 2011
2during a brief leave from the hospital for a visit home; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Corporal Peck had planned to work for the Illinois
4State Police upon finishing his tour of duty; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
6NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
7we honor United States Marine Corporal John M. Peck; and be it
8further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to United States Marine Corporal John M. Peck as a
11symbol of our respect and esteem.
