HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Sister Mattie
4Virginia Wilson of Alton on her participation in the "Celebrate
5an Elder Ministry Program" at the Greater St. James Baptist
6Church in Alton; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Sister Wilson is 89 years old and celebrated her
8birthday on May 25, 2011; she was born in Jackson, Tennessee to
9Boyd and Daisy Snipes; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Sister Wilson was married to Jim Wilson for 54
11years until his passing; together they raised George (Eva)
12Wilson, Daisy Logan, Jimmie (Lillie) Wilson, Roosevelt Wilson,
13Robert Wilson, Larry Wilson, Catherine Luster, Edward Wilson,
14Richard (Joann) Wilson, Sandra Wilson, and Mark (Leslie)
15Wilson; and
 
16    WHEREAS, She has 38 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren,
17and 28 great-great-grandchildren; and
 
18    WHEREAS, She has been active in the Senior Choir, Baptismal
19Committee, Sunday School program, and Communion Committee at
20St. James Baptist Church; and

1    WHEREAS, Sister Wilson is one of the most respected and
2admired women in the City of Alton and is affectionately known
3as "Mom"; she enjoyed singing, cooking, and teaching her Sunday
4School class; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
6NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
7we congratulate Sister Mattie Wilson on her achievements and
8wish her continued good health and happiness; and be it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to Sister Mattie Wilson as a symbol of our respect
11and esteem.
